Biogas desulfurization installation for Solae (food industry)

Biogasdesulfurization Solae

Biogas desulphurisation plant for Solae Belgium in Ypres.

IFF Ieper, also known as Solae Belgium NV, is a food company producing vegetable proteins from soy. These proteins are further processed by its customers into food, drinks and medical applications.

Why does H2S (hydrogen disulphide) need to be removed?

Hydrogen sulphide is produced by many industries, such as food processing, waste water treatment, blast furnaces, paper mills, tanneries, oil refining. H2S ((di)hydrogen sulphide, hydrogen disulphide or hydrogen sulphide gas) is a toxic and flammable gas with a typical rotten egg smell. Because of this toxicity, it is important to remove it. Due to the toxicity of H2S, breathing in even low concentrations of hydrogen sulphide for a long time is dangerous.

Removal efficiency of hydrogen sulfide with a biological air scrubber

The removal efficiency with this method is approximately 95%. This means that no odour is released into the environment. This can be verified with a simple odour measurement or olfactometry.

Cost savings

One of the main advantages of this removal technique is the very low operating costs. This is because a constant supply of chemicals is not required. Want to know more about biogas desulphurisation?
