Nouryon Functional Chemicals, formerly Akzo Nobel, produces various chemicals at their site in Herkenbosch in the Netherlands. Nouryon supplies basic chemicals for paints, pesticides, detergents, etc. When processing and storing chemicals such as ammonia, fumes may be released that are harmful to humans and the environment. To deal with this effectively, Nouryon turned to TASK Environmental Engineering for the design and installation of an air treatment plant. <\/p>\n

Tailor-made scrubber for ammonia removal<\/h2>\n

TASK installed a counterflow scrubber specifically designed to treat ammonia emissions. This scrubber purifies the air flow released during the filling of ammonia tanks, treating an air flow rate of 3,000 m\u00b3\/h. By using a counterflow principle \u2013 where air and washing liquid move in opposite directions \u2013 maximum absorption of ammonia vapours is achieved. <\/p>\n

This installation ensures that the emission of ammonia to the outside air is kept to a minimum, thus ensuring that Nouyon complies with the applicable environmental regulations as well as contributing to a safe working environment for its employees.<\/p>\n

Ammonia is a volatile and irritant substance that, if not treated correctly, can have serious consequences for air quality and safety. The installed scrubber features corrosion-resistant materials and high-quality components, which can withstand the aggressive properties of ammonia. The system is also easy to maintain. <\/p>\n
