Balchem/Chemogas specialises in filling, mixing and distributing chemical gases and liquids. Chemogas is one of the leading suppliers of packaged ethylene oxide (EO) worldwide for the medical sterilisation industry.
However, ethylene oxide is a highly reactive, volatile and toxic substance, which can pose risks to humans and the environment. To ensure the safety of personnel and to comply with the strict emission limits laid down in Flemish environmental legislation (VLAREM), Chemogas decided to invest in a multi-stage gas scrubber.
At the Grimbergen (Belgium) site, Task Environmental Engineering supplied a multi-stage scrubber specifically designed to absorb ethylene oxide from process air streams. Thanks to these scrubbers, Chemogas remains well below the emission limit value imposed in VLAREM.
The scrubber is made of chemically resistant materials that can withstand the aggressive nature of EO. Moreover, it is designed for continuous operation, with minimal maintenance requirements and optimum safety.
Thanks to this solution, Chemogas remains well below the imposed emission limits and strengthens its position as a responsible and progressive player in the chemical sector. The investment demonstrates a clear focus on safety, sustainability and the environment.
With more than 30 years of experience in air purification and odour treatment for the chemical industry, Task Srl offers tailor-made solutions to complex challenges involving volatile organic compounds, toxic substances and odour-causing emissions.
