Renewi is a leading company in the waste treatment industry. The site in Roeselare was equipped with a multi-stage scrubber to treat odorous air to reduce odour nuisance to the surrounding area and comply with strict Vlarem legislation. This air comes from waste treatment processes. A flow rate of 35,000 m³/h is processed with a guaranteed odour reduction of more than 95%, monitored via olfactometry. The gas scrubbers are made of glass-fibre reinforced polyester.
This contract was awarded by Renewi Belgium (then Shanks) to Task Environmental Engineering after very thorough evaluation of several domestic and foreign bidders.
Follow-up and maintenance
The installation was fully integrated within Renewi’s existing process structure. The system is low maintenance and easily monitored by the site operations team.
The odour control plant has been operational since November 2002 and remains operational to this day.
