Oil emulsion separation with ultrafiltration

olie-emulsie afscheiding met membranen

In the production process of radiators at Termoteknik – part of the Caradon Radiator Group – quality control for water tightness is a crucial step. Radiators just coming off the production line are immersed in test tanks filled with water to thoroughly test them for leaks. However, this creates a problem: oil residues and other contaminants from the production process are released during these tests. As a result, the water in the test tanks quickly becomes contaminated.

This rapid contamination had major consequences for the customer. The test water had to be changed regularly, leading to high water consumption and associated costs. In addition, frequent disposal of the contaminated water meant an additional burden on the environment and on the operational processes within the plant.

To address this problem, Task developed an efficient customised solution: an oil emulsion separation plant based on ultrafiltration technology. This technology makes it possible to effectively remove the fine oil and grease particles present in emulsion form in the test water. Thanks to this process, the water is thoroughly purified and can be reused in the test tanks.

The result is a significant reduction in water consumption, lower operational costs and a more sustainable production process. Moreover, this solution contributes to the environmental goals of Termoteknik and the wider Caradon Group, which is committed to sustainability.

The installation was successfully realised at the plant in Çorlu – Tekirdağ, Turkey. Task is proud to contribute with this innovative application to a more sustainable and cost-efficient production process at a leading manufacturer within the heating sector.
