Water is getting more and more expensive. Companies pay more and more for discharging waste water. The need for maximum reuse of these wastewater is becoming increasingly urgent, especially for companies where water plays a major role in the production process (slaughterhouses, breweries, laundries, cosmetics production, food and beverage industry, textiles, recycling industry, etc.).
It is possible to start from several water purification precursors. The above example (see photo) starts from an MBR (membrane bioreactor) unit. A downstream RO installation allows a substantial part of the wastewater (some 60-80%) to be reused in the production process. For the companies involved, this results in major savings on water and discharge costs, allowing the investment amount to be recovered relatively quickly. Knowing that water will become an increasingly important cost for the companies involved, every cost-saving measure in this respect is crucial. The operating cost for such a set-up, depending on the customer’s specific requirements, is, for example, only a third of the purchase price of city water.
Specifically, the feasibility of each specific project is checked in advance by means of on-site efficiency and dimensioning tests. If necessary, a test installation is used. The final system is fully customised for the customer, depending on the type of wastewater, the intended quality for reuse and the economic aspects. The membrane units on skid or in container form a compact unit, with a small footprint, which can easily be integrated into an existing wastewater treatment plant. The RO plant is a fully automated unit, fully remote-controlled and controllable.
