Why does H2S (hydrogen disulphide) need to be removed?
Hydrogen sulphide is produced by many industries, including food processing, wastewater treatment, blast furnaces, paper mills, tanneries and oil refining. H2S ((di)hydrogen sulphide, hydrogen disulphide or hydrogen sulphide gas) is a toxic and flammable gas with a typical smell of rotten eggs. Because of this toxicity, it is important to remove it. Due to the toxicity of H2S, inhaling even low concentrations of hydrogen sulphide for a long period of time is dangerous.
What is the removal efficiency of hydrogen sulphide with a biological scrubber?
The removal efficiency with this method is about 95%. This means no odour is released into the environment. This can be verified with a simple odour measurement or olfactometry.
