DAF flotation in food industry

DAF flotatie voor waterzuivering in voedingsindustrie

In the food industry, wastewater often contains a lot of fats. This producer of of sauces, salads and prepared dishes chose a DAF flotation in its wastewater treatment plant.

What is a dissolved air flotation?

A flotation is used to remove oils, fats and suspended solids from wastewater. The flotation consists of a large tank into which the wastewater enters and is mixed with fine air bubbles. The air bubbles interact with the particles to be separated, causing them to float to the surface. The oil and grease particles collect in a floating layer on the surface.

Benefits of a DAF installation:

  • High efficiency in removing greases, oils and solids.
  • Low operating costs compared to other fat removal methods.
  • Flexible and easy to integrate into existing wastewater treatment plants.

DAF flotation is thus an ideal solution for companies in the food industry struggling with grease and oil problems in their wastewater. By applying this technology, they better comply with environmental legislation and reduce the risk of blockages in the sewage system.
