Roto-Sieve is widely used in the brewing sector in Belgium. In breweries, Roto-Sieve proves its usefulness as a fast and effective pre-treatment of wastewaters.
Wastewater from breweries
Wastewater coming from a brewery is characterised by a high COD and consists mainly of sugars, alcohol residues, yeasts and detergents. Due to the variable flow rate and composition – with peak loads during cleaning cycles and rinses – a robust and flexible pre-treatment system is essential. Mechanical pre-filtration with a drum screen removes coarse solids such as malt residues and labels. The water can then be treated via biological processes such as an activated sludge or MBR plant to greatly reduce chemical oxygen demand (COD) and biological oxygen demand (BOD). Proper wastewater treatment is crucial to meet applicable discharge standards.
Roto-Sieve loved by brewers
Both the old generation Roto-Sieve (with a drum on carrying wheels) and the new generation Roto-Sieve with a drum suspended in carrying belts have been working tirelessly for decades in Belgian breweries and far beyond (Duvel, AB Inbev, La Chouffe, Palm, …).
In the latest generation with the drum suspended by carrier belts, we find that the customer can still make further savings by eliminating the main wear and tear, i.e. the carrier wheels.
